"Christ needs you to enlighten the world and to show it the "path of life" (Psalm 16:11). The challenge is to make the Church's "yes" to Life concrete and effective. The struggle will be long, and it needs each of you. Place your intelligence, your talents, your enthusiasm, your compassion and your fortitude at the service of life!"
— St. Pope John Paul II
HOW WE ARE HONORING LIFE
Call to Action: Sign the Three Parental Rights Initiatives (#108, #109, #110) ✍️
Our Colorado bishops have issued a clarion call to protect what is most fundamental — the dignity of the human person, parental rights and the well‑being of our children. They are urging all faithful to support three critical citizen‑led initiatives that, if placed on the 2026 Colorado ballot, will defend children, restore parental authority and uphold religious freedom.
These are the three initiatives:
Initiative #108 — Penalties for Human Trafficking of a Minor: This measure would strengthen the law by elevating trafficking of minors to a Class 1 felony, including a mandatory sentence of life without parole. It sends a strong message that trafficking children is intolerable.
Initiative #109 — Male and Female Participation in School Sports: Based on biological sex, this initiative requires that interscholastic and intramural athletic programs designate teams as male, female or co‑ed. It affirms that the differences between males and females are real and deserving of protection, especially when those differences affect fairness, safety and dignity.
Initiative #110 — Prohibit Certain Surgeries on Minors: Recognizing that minors are not able to fully consent to life‑altering, irreversible medical interventions, this initiative would ban surgeries or prescriptions aimed at altering a child’s biological sex, and prohibit use of state funds for such procedures.
What You Can Do Now
Sign the petitions: Each initiative needs about 125,000 valid signatures within six months beginning in early September to qualify for the 2026 ballot.
Volunteer: Help with signature collection. Parishes across Colorado will be hosting dedicated signature‑collection weekends. The final designated weekend will be November 1‑2 (All Saints / All Souls weekend).
Check with your parish: Ask your pastor or parish office when and how your parish will participate. Likely there will be weekend signature tables after Mass, or other organized efforts with times and volunteers. Encourage pastors to announce the importance of following the correct procedures when signing the initiatives to most accurately track signatures!
Share & Pray: Talk with friends, family, neighbors. These measures are not just about laws; they’re about protecting our children, preserving truth, and safeguarding conscience rights. Pray for wisdom, courage, and for hearts to respond.
A Message of Hope From the USCCB🕊️
In his 2025 Respect Life Month statement, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro‑Life Activities, invites us to embrace this October as a Jubilee Year of Hope — a season to renew our gratitude for the gift of life and to proclaim its dignity in word and deed.
Amid today’s challenges — Bishop Thomas reminds us that every human life remains a sign of hope against the culture of death. He calls us to walk alongside those in need through ministries like Walking with Moms in Need and Project Rachel, offering compassion, mercy and the profound hope that comes from Christ alone.
May we all answer our baptismal call: to be “a sign of hope in the world today,” witnessing to the dignity and sanctity of every human life.

Procession of Peace: Standing for Life with the Eucharist 🕊️
Join Archbishop Aquila for a Eucharistic Procession for Life, a time of silent prayer and powerful public witness to the dignity of every human life.
As we walk with Christ in the Eucharist, we stand in peaceful solidarity with the most vulnerable — and with all who courageously defend the sanctity of life.
All are welcome.
Keep Watch: Host a Holy Hour ✴️
Parish leaders, will you help us keep vigil for the vulnerable and unborn—the ones the Lord loves so deeply?
We're looking for parishes to host quarterly Holy Hours that can be as simple or as elevated as you’d like. Whether it’s candles and quiet prayer or music and reflection, the goal is the same: to draw hearts closer to Christ and awaken a deeper understanding of what Respect Life desires for our Archdiocese—a culture where every life is cherished and protected.
Emma and Jennifer are here to help you engage your parish in this mission. Contact us at life@ccdenver.org to learn more or get started.
